At Dimensional Innovations (DI), we're Designers, Makers, Engineers, Developers, Strategists and Innovators working together to create remarkable experiences, places and products. Our work lives at the intersection of design, technology and fabrication. From immersive brand experiences and interactive technology to sports venues, museums, corporate environments and destinations, we bring big ideas to life—all under one roof at our Kansas City headquarters.
An internship isn't about sitting on the sidelines. Our summer interns become part of the team and have the opportunity to contribute to real client projects alongside professionals in their field. You'll see how ideas move from concept to design, development, fabrication and installation—and how different disciplines come together to create something remarkable.
Throughout the summer, you'll build practical skills, learn from experienced mentors, make connections across DI and leave with meaningful experience you can take back to school and into your career. You'll work hard, learn a lot and have some fun along the way.
As a Designer Intern, you're part of the team from Day 1. You'll join DI's creative studio and have the opportunity to contribute to real client projects across industries like professional and collegiate sports, corporate, healthcare, cultural and museum environments, and entertainment.
You'll work alongside experienced designers as ideas take shape—helping develop concepts, explore creative solutions and communicate design intent to clients and the teams responsible for bringing those ideas to life. This isn't an internship where you'll spend the summer working on hypothetical assignments. You'll get exposure to the realities of professional design while contributing your ideas and skills to work that's actually moving through DI.
By the end of the summer, you'll have greater exposure to:
You don't need to have professional client experience yet—that's why you're here. We're looking for students who are creative, curious and excited to turn ideas into experiences. You'll be most successful if you bring:
Students pursuing Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Architecture or a related field are encouraged to apply.
Real work. You'll have opportunities to contribute to actual client projects—not just hypothetical intern assignments.
Build your portfolio while building your experience. You'll work on professional projects across a range of industries and gain a better understanding of what it takes to turn a creative idea into a real-world experience.
Design beyond the screen. At DI, you'll have the opportunity to see concepts move from sketches and renderings into physical spaces, objects and experiences.
A lot to explore. One project could take you into the world of professional sports and the next into a museum, corporate headquarters, healthcare environment or entertainment destination.
One roof, a lot of perspectives. Designers work alongside engineers, developers, project managers and fabricators, giving you exposure to disciplines and perspectives you may not experience in the classroom.
Built-in mentorship. You'll work alongside experienced creative professionals who can challenge your thinking, provide feedback and help you continue developing your skills.
A culture of curiosity. We value people who ask questions, experiment, solve problems and aren't afraid to try something new.
Employee-owned. DI is an ESOP company, which means our employees share in the success of the company and bring an owner's mindset to the work we do.
A summer that's more than work. You'll also have opportunities to connect with fellow interns and DI employees through intern events, activities and experiences throughout the summer.
